2012 Scholarship Applications Now Available |

Lacombe, Alberta (May 2012)
The Board of Directors of the Lacombe & District Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that the application for their Annual Scholarship is now available.
Grade 12 students who meet the following requirements are encouraged to apply for the scholarship before the APPLICATION DEADLINE – JUNE 15TH, 2012:
- Currently attending a school within the City of Lacombe or Lacombe County.
- Must be a resident of Lacombe or Lacombe County.
- Must be enrolled in a post-secondary institute for the upcoming year.
- Must be employed by or be the child of an employee of a Lacombe and District Chamber of Commerce Member in good standing.
Applicants will be required to fill out an application and provide a brief write up providing information concerning the applicants future career goals, program choice and plans once they have completed their post-secondary education.
Applicants will be reviewed by a selection committee determined by the Lacombe and District Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Successful applicants will be determined based on the above criteria and will be notified prior to September 1st of the graduating year. The scholarship award will be presented at our Annual Awards Gala in October.

The Lacombe and District Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Lacombe Regional Tourism and the Historical Society to produce a Business, Tourism and Chamber Directory and Visitor's Guide that will be on stands for May long weekend 2012.

New Directory in the Works |
The Chamber office is working closely with Marie Peron, Executive Director of Lacombe Regional Tourism and the Lacombe Historical Society to create and publish a new comprehensive listing of our business, community and tourism organizations.
Chamber members receive a complimentary extended listing in the directory. There will also be an opportunity to purchase advertising. The directory will include:
- business listings by sector
- economic development and industry
- chamber information
- history and heritage
- arts, culture and recreation
- attractions and things to do
- events, festivals and a calendar
- city, county, trails and features maps

This year’s Board, elected at the November 10, 2011 AGM, represents a solid cross-section of Lacombe’s business community. “Our new members bring fresh energy and ideas to the table. They are excited to volunteer their time and knowledge to support our membership,” says Angela Law, 1st Vice President, and Partner at MNP Lacombe. “Plus, we are really lucky to have Keith Meyers as 2012 President. Keith is a well respected, long time community builder who brings authentic and approachable leadership to the Chamber.”
Meyers, who has worked for Red Deer CO-OP, Lacombe Branch for 33 years and has volunteered with the Chamber for over 20 of those years says, “We are moving forward focused on our strategic goals - the main one, to see the Chamber become more useful to and respected by our business community and membership. We will continue to increase our profile while looking for every opportunity to better serve our members.”
