Annual Scholarship Recipients Announced

For immediate release – August 25th, 2017

 

The Lacombe and District Chamber of Commerce has chosen the recipients for the Annual Scholarship Award, given to local graduating high school students enrolling in a post-secondary program.  Two scholarships, each in the amount of $1250.00 will be awarded to the successful applicants from high schools within the County of Lacombe.  

The successful applicants for 2017 are Brooke McBurney and Mark DeWit. They will be able to apply their scholarships towards costs for the upcoming fall semester. Brooke is graduating from Lacombe Composite High School, and will pursue a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Calgary. Mark is graduating from Central Alberta Christian High School and will complete a Bachelor of Commerce at Red Deer College.

For photographs or interviews, the cheque presentations will take place August 31st at 4pm at 4711 49B Avenue in the MNP office.

Both of these students have shown commitment to the community through volunteerism and extracurricular activities. They have also proven a commitment to their education and to the growth of business in Alberta.
